Full-time Assistant Personal Manager
A full-time position based in our Hemel Hempstead office.
The Firm
Hillier Hopkins LLP, Chartered Accountants and Chartered Tax Advisers, is a Firm with 19 Principals and offices based in Aylesbury, Hemel Hempstead, London and Watford, employing over 120 staff. The Firm has teams of in-house specialists and experts that provide high levels of personal service in order to deliver effective financial advice and support to owner managed businesses, SMEs and individuals.
Vacancy Details
This is a Personal Tax role, based at our Hemel Hempstead office and reporting to the Senior Personal Tax Manager. The role will provide an opportunity to work on a wide‑ranging portfolio of clients and to have active involvement in identifying planning opportunities and providing advice. The duties will include:
- Accepting responsibility for a portfolio of clients under the supervision of the Senior Personal Tax Manager.
- Preparation of Personal Tax Returns. Dealing with enquiries and assisting staff and Principals. Considering tax planning issues.
- Maintaining a record of Tax Returns and ensuring all Returns are filed on time.
- Carrying out tax work in accordance with the Firm’s procedures.
- Assist with work-based training for students and technicians.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have the following skills:
- Good technical ability and IT skills.
- CTA qualified (or relevant accountancy qualification) would be an advantage.
- Minimum of 3 years current Personal Tax experience.
- Experience gained in practice.
- Ability to manage a portfolio of clients, with responsibility for compliance work and identification of tax planning opportunities.
- Be a team player with good interpersonal skills.
- Some experience of Trust work would be an advantage.
Employment Details
- Full time hours of work: 9.00 am – 5.30 pm, Monday to Friday, with 1 hour for lunch each day.
- Remuneration will be dependent on experience.
- The package will include:
- Death In Service scheme cover (4x salary).
- A contributory Stakeholder Pension Scheme (Employer: 5%; Employee: 3%) following completion of a 13-week probationary period.
- Group Income Protection Scheme (non contributory) following completion of a 13-week probationary period.
- Annual Leave will be 23 days per annum (25 if CTA qualified), 3 days are normally taken at Christmas/New Year.
