Golf clubs

We act for over 30 golf clubs in our local area and advise clubs throughout the UK. We have a great deal of experience of the different types of golf club structure and their associated accounting requirements. We also specialise in advising clubs on Community Amateur Sports Club status and how this can affect clubs finances.

Annual Budgeting
In addition to annual accounts, audit and tax compliance, we can provide help with annual budgeting to improve cash flow throughout the year.

VAT
We also have an experienced VAT team who can help with the complex VAT planning for your club. We would be happy to visit your club to review your current position.

Partial Exemption
Our VAT team have a close knowledge of the complex area of partial exemption and how this is applied to golf clubs. We have wide experience in negotiating favourable partial exemption methods for golf clubs and making repayment claims where there are any changes in legislation.

We constantly monitor tribunal decisions and H M Revenue & Customs announcements to be ready to advise golf clubs of the impact these may have on them.

Taxation Services
We act for many golf clubs regarding their corporate taxes and have been involved in many negotiations with HMRC regarding taxable status. For members clubs we have in almost all cases been able to either agree mutual trading status or a profit calculation method which reduces taxable income to zero. We have then been able to advise on tax strategies going forward to maintain that status.

Audit Services
For those clubs that require an audit we are able to provide a cost effective process which will in addition provide reports that actively benefit the club through our knowledge and experience at other clubs. We can then advise on how to improve systems and controls to maximise the benefit to the club.

Regular Reviews
As part of our services to Golf clubs we offer regular reviews of performance and monitoring against budgets to highlight any areas of concern at an early stage so that the club take early action to resolve these if necessary.

Annual Golf Club Benchmarking Report
Our annual Golf Club Survey goes out to both Proprietary and Members clubs. The results provide valuable comparative data trends in the sector and act as a benchmarking document for clubs.
